Ukraine, on the border (interview with Mikola Riabchuk)

Mykola Riabchuk (EURIAS Fellow 2013-2014), Senior Researcher at the Institute of Political Studies and Nationalities at the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, President of the Ukrainian PEN-center and co-founder and co-editor of the monthly publication Krytyka, answers the questions of Desde el Exilio in the interview "Ukrania en la frontera"

"What are you working on now? What future do you see in your daydreams for Ukraine?

- I’m trying to catch up with my writing as it was impeded a bit last year when I was working mostly on organizing the 83rd Congress of the PEN International in Ukraine. (The previous one was held in Ourence in 2016. So, we moved from Spanish Galicia to Ukrainian Galizia). Two hundred writers from all over the world came to the city of Lviv for a week to discuss the main topic – “Reclaiming truth in times of propaganda”, but also many other issues. And, of course, it was also an important sign of international solidarity with the country that happened to be at the frontline of propagandistic (and not only propagandistic) aggression.

My daydream for Ukraine does not differ significantly, I guess, from that of the majority of my co-citizens: to see Ukraine a full-fledged member of the Euro-Atlantic community, a member of NATO and the EU, and ultimately one of the leading countries in the continent. We have all the potential to gradually achieve this."
